There have been some great ring walks over the years.
Naseem Hamed once flew into the ring on a magic carpet, while Bernard Hopkins likes to enter the squared-circle with his executioner’s mask on.  Newcastle’s Dougie Curran may well be the only boxer ever to walk to the canvas with a straitjacket on though!

The Geordie battler, 8-17-3 (2), headlines in his home city’s O2 Academy on May 18, on promoter Steve Wraith’s ‘Black and White Fight Night’, and is promising to entertain the local fans.
Dougie will take on Pavel Senkovs over eight rounds, for the International Masters Bronze super-featherweight title, and is confident he will claim his first belt.

Also on the bill will be Andrew Buchanan (pictured) who returns to the ring after an eight year hiatus.  The Newcastle man originally turned pro in 2000 and currently has just one defeat in five outings.

The undercard will also feature Gateshead’s Paul O’Hagan, Craig Dixon and Rob Ismay, and North Shields’ Davey Ferguson Jnr.
