Six of the region’s fighters were in action at Newcastle’s O2 Academy on Saturday May 18.
Results were as follows:

Newcastle’s Dougie Curran (9st 3lbs) beat Mansfield-based Latvian Pavel Senkovs (9st 4lbs) over eight-threes to claim the International Masters (Bronze) super-featherweight championship.  Referee Mark Curry scored 80-72.
The remainder bouts were all four-threes.
Gateshead’s Paul O’Hagan (13st 11lbs) beat Scunthorpe’s Jody Meikle (13st 8lbs).  Referee Graeme Williams had it 39-37.
Gateshead’s Rob Ismay (14st 7lbs) beat Worksop’s Simeon Cover (14st 10lbs).  Referee Curry scored 40-37.
Gateshead’s Robert Dixon (10st 9lbs) beat Brighton’s Kevin McCauley (10st 12lbs)Referee Williams scored 40-37.
North Shields’ Karl Ferguson (10st 9lbs) lost to Tamworth’s Matt Seawright (10st 9lbs)Trainee-referee was Steve Hawkins; Mr Curry judged it 39-37.
Newcastle’s Andrew Buchanan (11st 12lbs) beat Sheffield’s Dean Walker (12st 4lbs).  Trainee-referee was Mr Hawkins; referee Williams judged it 40-36.
