Fledgling fighter, Nathan Owen, is asking fight fans to back him on a 200-mile bike ride challenge, as he attempts to raise funds for a seriously injured friend.

The super featherweight from Sheffield turned pro in November last year with a win over Edward Bjorklund and knows all about fighting. But the 24-year-old has decided to undertake his gruelling cycling challenge in aid of a good friend who faces a big fight of his own.

“Me and my friends have set up a Go Fund Me page for our friend Callum Chambers,” explained Nathan.

“On Father’s Day, Callum was collecting his belongings out of his friend’s boot when two people were racing their cars, lost  control, with one of them hitting him.  This resulted in Callum breaking both femurs and tibias, his right arm, and he also has a hole in his ankle. Callum was put into an induced coma that day to have an emergency operation, then on Monday he went through another 10 hours of surgery.  He is still sedated and will need more operations.

“Callum is a young man with a little boy aged just three.  He’s a hard working, self-employed delivery driver, and his life has now been turned upside down due to this horrific hit and run incident.

“To try and help Callum and his family, I will be raising funds over on my Go Fund Me page by doing a 200-mile bike ride. If anybody would like to sponsor me, I’d be extremely grateful.  Many thanks.”
