Tommy Frank is backing stable mate, Kane Salvin, to pick up his first title on December 11 at the Sheffield Arena, live on Eurosport.
Unbeaten Frank, 13-0 (3), tops the history making event – the UK’s first ever drive-in boxing show – when he faces fellow unblemished Sheffield fighter Kyle Yousaf, 16-0 (7), for the British Flyweight Title.
Playing chief-support to that eagerly-anticipated headliner, will be Salvin against Sufyaan Ahmed – in another all-Sheffield, 50-50 match up – for the Central Area Super Featherweight belt. With both men unbeaten at 5-0, and with the pair knowing each other well after sparring previously, it really is a contest that seems difficult to pick a winner.
Despite it being hard to split them, ‘Super’ Tommy says he sees training partner Salvin prevailing in an exciting encounter.
“Firstly, credit to both of them for taking the fight because neither of them needed to,” said Frank, 27. “They could have both probably have had another four or five fights before taking on this title fight. They’re both Sheffield lads, both unbeaten, and I believe it’ll be a great fight. My honest opinion, and I’m not just saying it because Kane is from my camp, but I believe Kane will beat Sufyaan.
“I train with Kane daily, we do a lot of sparring, and I know when he’s on his game just what he can do. He probably hasn’t shown half of what he can do yet in his fights so far. I think the 10 rounds will suit him, and I’m not saying he’ll win by a wide margin, because it could be nip and tuck, but I see Kane’s amateur experience and overall quality prevailing on the night.
“I definitely think Kane has got this one. Either way, with both of them coming from Sheffield neither will want to give any ground away, and it will be a cracking fight to watch.”
