Hamed Ghaz gets the opportunity he’s been craving on Friday June 25 when he gets top billing live on Fightzone in an eliminator for the English Lightweight Title.

Originally from Afghanistan but with Bradford now his home; the 25-year-old will take on Hertfordshire’s Liam Shinkwin at Sheffield’s Fightzone Arena for the chance to face champion Myron Mills later in the year.

A very useful amateur who represented Yorkshire in the unpaid code, Hamed has built up momentum since turning pro in 2014 and heads into the biggest test of his career boasting a perfect 16-0 (3) record.

Shinkwin, although less experienced in number of fights and with a single early career loss from 11 contests, may not be the underdog in this championship bout. The word from boxing insiders is that this is a genuine 50-50 affair, citing the fact that Liam is a former Southern Area Champion who – unlike Ghaz – has been the 10 round distance previously.

Ahead of the contest Hamed talks about headlining on Fightzone, sparring champion Myron Mills, and how he is prepared to face any lightweight in the UK.
